Kasia Pylyponko
My name is Kasia Pylyponko. The si in my name is pronounced as a very soft sh. While the name is a short version of Polish name Katarzyna, my surname is Ukrainian, and my grandparents are also Lithuanian and German. I am saying this as my works are often interrelated with memory and projection, referring to diversity which presents my works in different forms, shapes and sizes. Each of my projects consist of multiple works with different ranges of medium, multi-layered and revealing the contradictions similarities between each other; linking them all around the specific themes and meanings. They all demonstrates how life extends beyond its own subjective limits, challenging the binaries we continually reconstruct between oneself and each other. What I care about the most is to create work which tells a story: they can be self portraits, portraits of society; or numerous notes, made, crossed out again and repeated. Some works focus on the inability of communication of the events, in attempt of visual dialogue about non-spoken things. Occasionally they highlight the contrast between form and content and the dysfunction of language.

I am a WIT Graduate (BA Hons in Visual Art, 2018) and also a member of Eisil Contemporary Art Collective (2017-present) with studios based in Carriglea Convent, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. Also a member of the Mór Art Collective (2023-present) based in Greywood Arts, Killeagh, Cork as well as Visual Artists Ireland (2016-present)
